In short

When a client asks for extra work on site, text us what it is and what it costs. We send a variation from a lawyer-approved template to the client for e-signature. You start the extra work once it’s signed, and we add it to the final invoice automatically.

  2. 02

    You text us

What the extra work is, the price and any extra time.

  3. 03

    Variation sent for e-signing

A clear written variation from a lawyer-approved template, sent to the client’s phone.

  4. 04

    Client signs

We tell you straight away so you can get started.

  5. 05

    Billed automatically

The variation is added to the final invoice. No forgotten extras.

Good to know

The details that matter

What NSW requires

For residential building work, variations must be in writing, signed by you and the client, and attached to the contract, before the extra work starts. Urgent safety work can be written up afterwards.

Your call to start

We tell you when it’s signed. Starting before that is your decision, and it’s the most common reason extras go unpaid.

Records that settle arguments

Every signed variation is saved against the job with the date, time and signer, so the final invoice is never a surprise.

FAQ

Questions about variations

All questions

Does a text or verbal OK count as a variation?

For residential building work in NSW, variations need to be in writing and signed by both parties. A verbal OK leaves you exposed if the client disputes the bill.

Are electronic signatures valid?

Electronic signatures are generally accepted in NSW under the Electronic Transactions Act 2000 (NSW). Our e-sign process records who signed and when.

How fast can you send a variation?

We treat variations as urgent, because you’re standing on site waiting. During business hours someone picks them up straight away.
